Education: Fairview, Texas Makes the Grade

A quality education for local youth is — or should be — a top priority for all of us. An educated community is a stronger one in essentially every way.
Think about it. Great schools with top academic records attract conscientious residents who want their children to have access to the best educational programs. Even residents who don’t have children or whose children are grown and out of the house benefit from living in an area that places a major emphasis on education. Families who are focused on academics and school activities make great neighbors. These communities also tend to elect visionary leaders who think far beyond themselves and the short term. Simply put, higher-quality education typically translates into a higher quality of life.
Our local school system is one of the biggest, brightest feathers in Fairview’s cap. Both of the districts that serve Fairview (Lovejoy ISD and McKinney ISD) are ranked in the top 5 percent of public school districts in the nation, based on various sources, and both regularly receive state and national recognition for achievement in academics and fine arts.
Of the nearly 160 school districts and charter school operators in North Texas, both of our districts were among the 39 that earned the top grade on Texas’ new academic accountability rating scale, based largely on student achievement and school progress.
    Smart Surroundings
In fact, nearly every Collin County district achieved the Texas Education Agency’s top rating, including all of those immediately surrounding Fairview: Allen, Plano, Frisco, Wylie and Princeton.
Why is that important for Fairview? Every employer wants employees who feel good about where they live and what their community can offer their families. Satisfied employees are productive employees. And when an employer locates their business in Fairview, they benefit from our central proximity to multiple top-rated school districts in nearby communities that offer a wide range of quality housing and an easy commute.
In addition to the leading local school districts, area residents have easy access to dozens of colleges, universities, and vocational and technical schools. Collin College, with multiple locations throughout the county, offers more than 100 degrees and certificates in a variety of disciplines.
If you want to surround yourself with smart folks who appreciate the value of quality education, let’s talk about how locating in Fairview might be a wise decision for your business.
